Maternity Services

Len’s daughter, Sara, was preparing to deliver her third child at St. Luke’s. During childbirth, Sara suffered from a postpartum hemorrhage. Len and his family were aware of the risks and dangers that are inherent in childbirth, but didn’t realize how quickly things could go wrong.

As healthcare professionals, we have the sacred privilege to care for people in some of their most vulnerable and scary times. During the course of four hours, Sara underwent three emergency surgeries. With the help of over 25 doctors, nurses and support staff, she received over 40 units of blood and other emergency procedures to save her life.

“Your team worked together in the most comprehensive scene I’ve ever seen to take care of my daughter and to take care of us,” said Len. “The superstars here are your nurses.”
