Drinks With The Best Health Bargains

Whether you’re quenching your thirst after a workout or cooling off on a hot day, skip the pricy sports drinks and enhanced waters. Tea, coffee and low-fat plain or chocolate milk might be better health bargains, say experts from the Institute of Food Technologists.

The antioxidants in tea, whether it’s iced or hot, may strengthen your immune system and help your body rid itself of harmful compounds that lead to cellular damage. Coffee is another antioxidant powerhouse, with the potential to protect against heart disease, type 2 diabetes and possibly Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, according to research published in IFT’s Food Technology magazine.

Recent studies also show that drinking low-fat milk after resistance training may improve your muscle development while it increases your fat loss.
