Purse-a-nality: What does your bag say about you?

What’s in the bag? Whether it’s just the essentials or everything under the sun, the contents of your purse serve as an extension of you and can reveal more about your personality than you realize.

The carryall

Bumps and bruises at the park? You’re ready with a handful of Band-Aids. No time for lunch at work? Hello, granola bar! If a giant bag with lots of compartments is your ideal, chances are your purse is more like your home away from home. Women who tote larger bags with room for necessities (and more) tend to be very organized and ready for any situation life may throw at them.

But while it’s great to always be prepared, be careful not to overload your purse. The American Chiropractic Association recommends keeping the weight of your bag under 10 percent of your body weight.

The hobo

Is that your grocery store receipt—from three months ago? If your unstructured bag has few pockets and looks like a hodge-podge of old and new, it can be a sign that you’re easily adaptable in situations and ready to go at a moment’s notice. Your bag leaves lots of room for creativity but can also mean that you have trouble letting go.

Your purse can be a great accessory, but beware of making it your adult security blanket! Remember: Having to search through a bottomless pit for your wallet can be time-consuming and make you look disorganized.

 The clutch

Keys? Check. Business cards? Check. While a random item or two may sometimes find its way into your bag, there’s little room for extra goodies in your clutch, and the same goes for your lifestyle too. Women who prefer a clutch are often seen as efficient “jet-setters” who don’t need material possessions to make them happy. They have a clear picture of what they want, and they don’t need excess to make it happen.

While confidence is your strong suit, it’s OK to let down your guard! Although you know how to have fun, you may often have difficulty finding time to relax. Take a breather– you’ll be glad you did.
