Learning How To Count Your Blessings

Being a grateful person can have unexpected benefits: You may be less aggressive and less likely to have your feelings hurt.

As you give thanks for the positive things in your life, you’re more likely to empathize with others, reports Nathan DeWall, a psychology professor at the University of Kentucky, whose research was recently published in Social Psychological and Personality Science.

And you can cultivate gratitude even if it doesn’t come naturally. Try taking time once a week, for example, to mentally count your blessings.
